Doing Work Coffee has been barrel aging coffee for almost 5 years now and our latest batch was a leap of faith or educated wish. As always, we stated with the best ingredients--This barrel has a crazy story to tell...This French oak barrel started its life holding a Pinot Noir for 7 years before being transported to Key West where Chef Paul Menta at First Legal Rum Distillery filled it with rum and aged it for another 4 years. The rum is exceptional and deserving of it's the accolades and awards. It's complex and delicate with a smoothness that only comes with time.
This batch has exceeded expectations and is likely the best batch of our barrel aged line of coffees to date. We do not get comfortable in our products and this run represented a swing for the fences. We chose another organic natural processed coffee from the COMSA cooperative in Honduras. After testing out the regular bean we were confident that it would be as good as our last batch. We had a grueling near 2 months of zero availability of our barrel aged coffee, bit thought we could do even better and decided not to compromise, which would have been easy to do and instead put out the best product we could. We think that you will be blown away by this batch. We apologize for the wait, but feel like it was worth it. Given the limited quantity and the added expenses in producing this coffee all deals have been suspended for this round and prices have gone up.
